Child's Development

Your newborn arrives in the world a helpless, totally dependent baby, yet with your help, within a year she will have learned all the basic skills that she needs to build on for her future growth and development.

This section takes you, month by month, through the first year of a child's development. It is however, important to realize that your child is unique, so there is little point in comparing her with others in anything other than a general way at this stage.

You will want to help and encourage your child as she masters each new skill. Understanding how she learns to talk, crawl, walk and play will enable to you to assist her at each stage. The five senses - hearing, vision, taste, smell and touch - are all extremely important form the time your child is born. As each sense develops, your child will be discovering something new about the world in which she's living.
